I recently met Samantha Lynch at a Body Conceptions event in which we were both the featured speakers. I was struck by her knowledge and passion for healthy balanced eating and her overall warm demeanor. Sam is also about to welcome her second child and I’m excited to see how she continues to build herself as a Beyond Mom.  

What makes you a Beyond Mom?

I like the term Beyond Mom because it reminds me of our other identities and all the hats we wear. For me I think of entrepreneur, business owner, expert in nutrition, role model, athlete, friend, wife, daughter, professional errands runner, cook, assistant to my husband, seamstress, organizer, and the list goes on.

What are the parts of you that have grown and expanded since becoming a Mom?

Accepting that I am not going to be able to do everything I want in a day and prioritizing the most important items at the top. I have learned to delegate responsibility which in the past was very difficult for me.

Can you share a collaboration/success story with another woman; what helped the collaboration become successful?

Recently I partnered with Jenny Skoog, a doula & pre/post natal trainer I met while we were working at Reebok Sports Club/NY. A large part of our clientele are pre & postnatal women and with our new partnership and projects we are able to offer them both nutrition and fitness advice.

The collaboration is successful because we both communicate and listen to each other. We have similar goals, expectations, and create deadlines for projects.

What relationships help you stay connected to yourself?

I believe everyone should have one hour for themselves everyday. And it is up to you to decide what you want to do during that hour.  Most often my hour is spent working out with a friend or client. This way I am doing something advantageous for myself physically and emotionally as well as connecting and learning with someone.

Do you have a ‘Beyond’ dream that you are pursuing? If so, please share…

Yes, and it’s evolving but a book and e-commerce site are in the works.

What wellness activity can you not live without? What is one thing you do daily that balances you?

Every single day I move. That is defined by taking at least 10,000 steps and/or a workout.

How does style influence the way you stay feeling ‘Beyond’? Who is currently your favorite designer?

When I slip on a pair of high heels after my morning workout I feel ready to tackle my day with confidence. I am in the last few days of my pregnancy and have been wearing a lot of Joie recently. Her style is comfortable and can be dressed up or down. Also, because it is not specifically for maternity and fits well, I don’t mind paying the extra price for I will be able to continue to wear it after I have the baby.


Favorite NYC Spots that Embody The Beyond Mom:

Beyond Cocktails and/or Food: 

L’apicio, and anything Danny Meyer and Mario Batali are behind. Cocktails, I keep it clean and simple like Tito’s & Soda or Prosecco and Champagne.

Beyond Workout:

Tough question! I believe muscle confusion gives me the best results. My routine consists of weights with my trainer, SLT & Flex Studios (Pilates, Barre & TRX), and Running.

Beyond Shopping:

I have very little time to go to stores so I order online mostly from Shopbop and Ralph Lauren for myself, and Lily Pulitzer, Crew Cuts, Jacadi, and Ralph Lauren for my daughter.

Beyond Inspiration: 

My mother is my “Beyond” Inspiration. She developed Type 1 Diabetes when she was 2 years old, unfortunately suffered many of the complication associated with the disease, including complete blindness, yet is the most positive and remarkable women I know. She taught me you can do anything you put your mind to. “If there is a will, there is a way.”
