Beyond Mom Interviews

Marilyn Moore

Founder of Divine Appetite

Ask Marilyn Moore what she stands for and its simple- being mentally and physically Divine. She believe this starts with food. With over ten years in hospitality, Marilyn expresses herself through cooking delicious food (she favors Mediterranean cuisine!) for large crowds. Currently, she focuses on healthy intimate dining with the gift of brunch! Through her company Divine Appetite, she works in homes offering shabby chic brunches with a maximum of ten people. Marilyn is also a wellness speaker and loves sharing her message on the marriage of mind and body. Since becoming a mother to three beautiful girls, Marilyn has seen the brilliance of femininity expand within her. Find out more about this Beyond Mom!

What makes you a Beyond Mom?

My ability, even if I have to bring the girls along, to build Divine Appetite. My goal is to simultaneously excel in my passion of motherhood and entrepreneurship.

What are the parts of you that have grown and expanded since becoming a Mom?

My view of vulnerability has shifted from seeing it as a weakness to now as a sense of power. The brilliance of femininity has also expanded within me, especially being a mother to three girls.

Can you share a collaboration/success story with another woman; what helped the collaboration become successful?

In December Krishna Davenport-Francis of Baobab Wellness and I collaborated for her Brownsville Family Fit Brunch. I met her at a Moms Rising event and I instantly knew we both were on the same page. There is nothing better than standing with another woman, mom and entrepreneur whose desire is to help women stay well, just like you. A great thing happened at the Beyond Mom 305 Fitness meet up. I met a mom who was at that brunch and told me her son now eats cucumbers because of that demo! It doesn’t get better then that!

What relationships help you stay connected to yourself?

The relationship I have with my Doula keeps my heart in the right place. She is my constant reminder to be humble, believe in my ability to parent on my terms and not society’s image. Also my close friend who happens to live in Canada, but we have weekly, business and spiritual power sessions that revive us and set us into full gear for the week to come.

Do you have a ‘Beyond’ dream that you are pursuing? If so, please share…

I want take Divine Appetite’s Wellness workshop, The Marriage of Mind and Body, on the road and I want to bring the family along. This Beyond dream is in the works of coming true.

What wellness activity can you not live without? What is one thing you do daily that balances you?

Eating a raw item with every meal, even if it’s sprinkling spices on my food, it truly aids my digestion and revives my spirit. Prayer balances me and I can do it anywhere, so it fits in perfectly with a busy schedule.

How does style influence the way you stay feeling ‘Beyond’? Who is currently your favorite designer?

Being able to be Marilyn, edgy and all, is what gives me the drive to pitch my brand to a new clients and sponsors. My favorite designer is Free People, with a little bit of Tracy Reese.
