To Beyond Mom Esther Blum, the goal of healing others felt like second nature to her (she comes from a long line of medical practitioners). Now, as an integrative dietitian and lifestyle coach, Esther’s mission is to help others reverse chronic illness and heal their relationship with food and their bodies. She works with clients to create a powerful belief system so they can take ownership of becoming healthy and whole. She is based in Westport, Connecticut where she runs an active practice, coaching and mentoring others. She has also offered her passion and expertise through her four wellness books. Esther shares with us how motherhood busted her heart chakra open, why women need to get loud and much more!

What makes you a Beyond Mom?

I continually strive to develop and grow my spiritual practice to help me and my clients become Intuitarians when it comes to eating and taking care of our bodies.  I feel now more than ever that women as a collective need to get LOUD. We tend to have a great deal of fear when it comes to speaking our truth and expressing ourselves. Once we give ourselves permission to freely act on what we need we develop a limitless capacity to heal.

What are the parts of you that have grown and expanded since becoming a Mom?

I have never loved more openly or as deeply since becoming a mother – my heart chakra got busted wide open!  But what I love most about becoming a mom is having these intense mama bear instincts that totally became activated.  It’s a powerful thing to know that this protection and connection to another human being was already within us without learning it from anyone else.

Can you share a collaboration/success story with another woman; what helped the collaboration become successful?

I have a deep collaboration and connection to my dear friend Brooke Emery.  Brooke is a connector, strategic coach and spiritual guide and I trust her inherently . The moment we met fireworks went off! I immediately envisioned the book she should write (which she had already started working on unbeknownst to me) and she started to help me expand the vision for my business. Since then I’ve edited her first book, hired her as a coach, and brought her on to lead meditations at a local spa. In turn, she has joined my online group coaching, helped me revamp and grow my business, and turned my creative ideas into a profitable business model. I treasure our synergy and wickedly fun friendship.

What relationships help you stay connected to yourself?

I have many spiritual guides in my life: holistic medical healers, friends like Brooke, Unknown Angels who I regularly pray to, and God. I also have a core group of friends who’ve known me for over 25 years; my childhood BFF and I have been friends for over 40 years!  My 10-year-old son always reminds me to be wickedly present; having an only child reminds me daily that I only get to do this parenting thing once. I also love my friendships with creative creators who develop badass products and lead by example.

Do you have a ‘Beyond’ dream that you are pursuing?

I completely revamped the way my clients can achieve their goals and co-create some seriously big changes in their own lives this year and am accepting 5 clients into this personal development and Mastermind program. Women who enter my annual program understand they are in it for the big picture and have the tenacity, grit, and power to unearth the greatest health, eating habits, mindset and business tools within. And in the meantime, I’m working on my fifth book: Eat, Drink, and Be Fortyish: The plant-based path to a vibrant life.

What wellness activity can you not live without? What is one thing you do daily that balances you?

I walk for 60-90 minutes at least 5 days per week.  I call them my “walkitations” because they are walking meditations.  I often listen to podcasts along the way that spark my creativity and joy, though I also love listening to the sounds of nature around me.

How does style influence the way you stay feeling ‘Beyond’? Who is currently your favorite designer?

I’m always looking for ways to bring my inner vibe and my fashion choices into greater alignment.  I love simplicity when it comes to dressing and for special occasions I’ll throw my fave hot pink Milly dress with trumpet sleeves.
