I received an email from Jessica Rosenberg (the blogger behind It’s My Life) and it started out in a way that usually makes me hit the ‘delete’ button faster than you can move a mouse and click.
I’m not usually an email spammer…
I’ve received emails from Jessica before, however, so kept going. I have a new blog, she writes. I yawn. Sure, the yawn could have been the crappy night of sleep I got that ended at 3:30am in me giving up and getting up…but it could have just as easily been that I”m kind of burned out on blogs and couldn’t imagine what was going to come next that wouldn’t be something that just made me feel sorry for the author.
KickInTheBlog.com huh? Inspiration for blogging? Blogger’s Block cure?
Sure it is….
But hey, I’m intrigued enough to click over and the question I see is, “What do you love to do?” There’s even some background on why she’s asking the question (go see it yourself, I’m not giving it all away here you spoiler junkies) and I think to myself, “Oh great, another one of those ‘what’s your passion’ questions I can never answer.”
I walk away to pour myself another cup of coffee and thought to myself, “Heh. I should post what I really love to do. Correct mistakes, find flaws in plans, and fixing thought processes in others that make no damn sense!”
That’s when the lightning bolt hit me. In my brain. It almost hurt.
I can actually answer these questions honestly and it doesn’t make me look less human! Sure, it will make me look different, and my answers will surely not be like everyone else’s and…and…THAT’S AWESOME!
So what started off as a cynical, jaded, over-it social media vamp’s dismissal turned into inspiration. Which is, I think, exactly the point of the blog. Talk about mission accomplished.
So I’m going to try and follow those prompts and really write something of consequence that I’ll look back on and not want to poke myself with a fork for writing.
Thanks Jessica – I look forward to being on this journey with you.
No disclaimer. Jessica has NO idea I’m even writing this. It’s just worth the time and will probably help you out.

Clearly I need more sleep too because I’m almost crying writing this.
Thank you. And thank you for reading the whole email.
I’m not hoping for cookie cutter posts. I really want to make people stop and post from the heart. Can’t wait to read about what you love to do.
