Back to Personal Finance

I totally know that I have these cycles where I talk about family, education, fitness, finance and then review stuff here and there or share news that I think is cool. The cycles can make some people happy and annoy others because I just cannot dedicate myself to one niche.

But…personal finance is coming back!

I’m looking into getting rid of all cable services except the bare minimum and finding ways to slash the budget even further. We bought a 1997 Ford Taurus instead of financing a new car when our car was totaled. We are saving and we are going to be so intense about being cheap you’re not going to believe it.

I’m having coffee with a friend on Tuesday and I’m just going to have coffee. No breakfast bill for me!

The one thing I’m seriously considering investing in is Financial Peace University. While I’m not sure I want to take it locally … I still have to look and see where it’s being offered near me, plus I don’t have child care for that kind of thing, online is sounding like the best way to go. Not because I don’t “get” the baby steps, I do, and we have prospered since implementing baby step 1, I assure you. But to be that focused for 13 weeks will be a great way to start and keep a pattern.

Plus everyone I’ve talked with says it was life changing. I’m not sure when you already don’t have credit cards and you already have an emergency fund if it’s as life changing as going into it with large incomes and credit cards, but hey, it’s worth a shot. Plus I already have a budget. In Excel.

Oh hey, I never did put my budget back up after my sites all crashed and I had to start my blog from scratch. It was downloaded over 5,000 times since I put it up last year – people want to do right by their finances.

I have faith in you. I have faith in me. We can get to a great place.

If you hate personal finance, be on the lookout, because my ankle is almost healed and fitness is going to be back in the house!!
