TMI: Why I Hate Going to the OB
I love my OB, let me just get that out of the way. She’s young, she’s smart, she’s funny. What more could I want out of my lady doctor?
The first two babies I had, I didn’t go see a doctor until my second trimester. It’s a superstitious thing. I don’t think being poked and prodded during a brand-new pregnancy is the smartest thing to do for fetal health.
Note: I’m not a doctor and I’m barely smart enough to tie my shoes. Don’t take my advice as real advice. Take it as a lesson in what not to do if you are a smart person.
So I went to the OB this morning and went through all the health questions (deciding on the fly whether or not I should admit that yes, my mother has been diagnosed with schitzophrenia but it’s most likely from the drugs in the 60’s than anything remotely hereditary) and other fun questions.
Then the doctor came in, spelunked her magical doctor way into me, got out and told me, “You may experience cramping and bleeding. Don’t worry about it.”
I said to her, “Wow, I didn’t have cramping or bleeding before the doctor, but now I get to worry about cramps and bleeding. Thank you doctor, thank you!”
She laughed because she’s used to me being a total smartass. (If you ever want to know why I didn’t go to another OB now you know why. She puts up with my shit and thinks I’m funny. If I wasn’t married and she was a guy I’d try and woo her myself.)
So the rest of this afternoon was all about me having icky cramps. I was spared the bleeding.
On the bright side I only have to have these appointments once a month.
On the even brighter side…my nausea is only really bad when I hang out at the computer for hours in a row. It’s going to force me to organize my time more effectively.

Got something to say?

You won’t have another internal until you are past 30 weeks, so relax. The cramping comes from the internal exam.
Feel better!
I always just refused them. They can’t make you. LOL. They poking around in there does absolutely nothing, in my opinion. The baby will come out when it wants and it’s obviously happy in there now.
Candys last blog post..Can you feel the love? Yeah, me either…
