What Would Suze Orman Do About Preschool?

Okay, I’m kidding, I am not a big fan of Suze because she advocates “good credit card habits” and I’ve been getting flack from my family for years for not using or having credit cards. So she feels like someone who would not agree with my lifestyle.

But since her book is a free download until January 15th from the Oprah website, well, let’s just say I have never met a free book I wouldn’t read.

She sounds a lot more like Dave Ramsey (pay off your cards, pay off your HELOC – Home Equity line of Credit) than she used to. It’s not a bad book, but unless you’re a super-duper beginner to the world of financial security and trying to achieve it, you will see a lot of things you already know.

But what would Suze say about preschool?

For both my girls to go to three hours of preschool on M-W-F it will cost $273/mo. – a hell of a lot cheaper than Montessori but still…money is money.

Of course, can you put a price on two solid hours of quiet where Randy and I could schedule calls that we would know, without a shadow of a doubt, would be kid-noise-free? If no noise made one prospect into a client preschool would pay for itself. Of course there is no way to know that the prospect would not have become a client even if there was errant, occasional noise in the background so the ROI is tough to measure.

I don’t know what the right decision is, and the book only addresses rethinking $15,000/yr. private school…

Dave Ramsey would say I couldn’t do it because I can’t pay for it in full. Well, I could but it would require tapping my emergency fund which is a huge no-no.

Oh to hell with it. I need some piece of mind. The girls start Monday.
